Dwelling Coverage (Coverage A)

Dwelling Coverage, known as Coverage A, protects the physical structure of the insured home / main dwelling. Coverage for the main dwelling includes the core physical structure, as well as:

  • Internal Systems & Fixtures: Built-in fixtures, plumbing, heating, and electrical wiring.
  • Attached Structures: Any structures physically connected to the main home, such as a deck, porch, or attached garage.

You can view the specific Coverage A limit for any property directly on the Coverage tab in the portal.

Adjusting Coverage A Limits

Stated Value vs Non-Stated Value States

Whether you can increase or decrease the Coverage A limit depends entirely on the state where the property is located, and whether it’s a Stated Value or Non-Stated Value State.

  • Stated Value States: You can manually increase or decrease the Coverage A limit.
  • Non-Stated Value States: The Coverage A limit cannot be altered.

Connecticut

In Connecticut, clients have additional flexibility regarding their coverage structure. You can choose to insure a dwelling at 50% of its Replacement Cost Estimate (RCE).

Note: Selecting this option removes the standard $5 million Guaranteed Replacement Cost (GRC) coverage and replaces it with a defined, fixed coverage limit.
