Buried Service Lines Coverage

Buried Service Lines is an optional endorsement available on the Coverage tab for all Openly policy types. This coverage protects you against the high costs associated with repairing or replacing underground utility lines on your residential premises.

 

Coverage

  • Coverage Limit: Up to $10,000
  • Deductible: $500

This endorsement covers underground line failures caused by leaks, breaks, tears, ruptures, collapse, or electrical arcing. 

In addition to repairing or replacing the service lines themselves, the $10,000 limit applies to:

  • Excavation costs: The expense of digging up the line and restoring the property.
  • Expediting costs: Expenses to rush repairs or parts.
  • Outdoor property damage: Damage to lawns, trees, or shrubbery caused by the broken service line or its repair.
  • New generation upgrades: Additional costs to utilize safer, more modern materials during repair.
  • Additional Living Expenses (ALE): Coverage for temporary housing or Fair Rental Value if the failure makes your home uninhabitable.


Exclusions

Be advised of what this endorsement does not cover:

  • Storm drains
  • Septic systems
  • Heat pumps

Excluded Locations & Conditions:

  • Lines under water: Any underground pipes or wires running beneath or within a body of water (including swimming pools, ponds, lakes, or streams).
  • Lines beneath structures: Any underground pipes or wires located directly beneath or within the main dwelling or other permanent structures on the premises.
  • Outdoor water features: Pipes used specifically to supply water to outdoor property, such as hot tubs, swimming pools, fountains, or decorative ponds.
  • Unused utilities: Any underground pipes or wires that are not currently connected and ready for use.
