While Openly generally does not underwrite commercial child care risks, in-home daycares are permitted on the residence premises only in Maine and Oregon, provided they meet strict state licensing and insurance requirements.
- Licensing: The daycare must hold a valid Registered or Certified Family Child Care License.
- Proof of Insurance: Verifiable proof of separate commercial insurance must be uploaded to the Openly portal within 30 days of binding.
Note: This does not extend liability or property coverage to the daycare. Agents must ensure the policyholder carries a separate, commercial insurance policy.
State-Specific Portal Upload Instructions
Agents will see a screening question regarding home-based businesses and daycares on the Property Review tab in the portal.
To bind, upload supporting documentation. Document upload dropdown options vary by state where the risk is located. Ensure you choose the correct document type when submitting proof.
- Verify the daycare has a Registered or Certified Family Child Care License.
- In the portal, go to the Documents section.
-
Upload documentation.
