Openly uses a predictive model to determine which dwellings should undergo inspections. This assessment is based on a range of factors, and there is typically no single determining factor for selection.
-
Openly does not conduct pre-bind inspections. All inspections for selected dwellings will occur after the policy’s effective date.
- If a policy is selected for inspection, the "Selected for Inspection" banner will appear on the right-hand side of the quote/policy in the Portal (located above the premium amount).
The variables considered may include, but are not limited to, roof age and high-insured values.
The inspection process
Openly will first conduct a desk inspection to determine if a virtual or in-person inspection is necessary.
Virtual inspection (FlyreelⓇ)
If Openly determines that a virtual inspection is needed, an email will be sent to the Insured, including the binding Agent, via FlyreelⓇ.
For more information about FlyreelⓇ, watch this short video.
In-person inspection
If Openly determines an in-person inspection is needed, or the Insured is unable to complete the virtual inspection, Openly will order an in-person inspection through a third-party vendor.
For interior inspections, the vendor will contact the Insured by phone to schedule the inspection. If the vendor is unable to schedule the in-person inspection, they will contact the binding Agent to help coordinate.
For exterior-only inspections, the vendor will make one courtesy call to the Insured to advise them that an inspector will be on the property to conduct an exterior inspection. A voicemail will be left if the call is not answered.
Important: Failure to inspect the property may result in policy cancellation in accordance with the policy's terms and conditions, state laws, and regulations.
What homeowners and agents can expect
Openly’s inspections team will only communicate the inspection results with the insured and the binding Agent if the inspection finds concerns that need to be addressed. All decisions and communications will be in accordance with the policy’s terms and conditions and the laws of the state where the property is located.
Post inspection outcomes
Decisions following an inspection can include:
- No Action Needed
- 60 days to fix identified hazards
- Cancellation of Policy
- Non-Renewal of Policy
