Openly requires specific information regarding a dwelling's primary use to generate an accurate quote and apply the correct policy form. Agents can make this selection after they click +New Client Quote.
Select the option that best fits the insured's use of the property:
- Primary (HO-3 and HO-5 Form): A main residence occupied by the owner the majority of the time.
-
Rental (HO-3 Form): A residential property owned by the insured and rented to others, where the owner does not reside.
- If the property is rented for part of the year (e.g., six months) but the insured also occupies the home for personal use, it should typically be listed as a Secondary residence with a Home-Sharing Endorsement.
-
Secondary / Seasonal (HO-5 Form): A residence occupied by the insured for any length of time during the year in addition to their primary residence.
- If the insured spends any time at the home (whether for three consecutive months or on intermittent weekends), list it as Secondary / Seasonal. Read more about Secondary Homes.
Home-Sharing (Airbnb® / Vrbo®)
Openly’s Home-Sharing Endorsement provides coverage for short-term rental activities for a portion of the year.
-
Coverage Tab: Select under the Optional Coverage section. Subject to state-specific guidelines. Learn more about home-sharing.
Ineligible Occupancy Types
Openly does not currently have an appetite for:
- Vacant Homes: Dwellings where no one lives, and the property is substantially unfurnished.
- New Construction: Vacant dwellings undergoing entirely new construction or significant extensions (ground-up builds).
Note on Renovations: Openly offers an Under Construction Endorsement for unoccupied dwellings undergoing renovation or remodeling for less than 180 days.
