What is the Standard Peril Deductible?

A standard peril deductible is the amount a homeowner must pay out of pocket before their home insurance coverage begins. This deductible is typically paid to the contractor or subtracted from the claims settlement when a covered claim is paid.

The Coverage tab in the Portal allows you to select the deductible amount. 

  • Virginia: The Standard Perils deductible cannot exceed 10% of the Replacement Cost Estimate (RCE).

There are minimum deductibles of $2,500 on policies with an RCE less than $1M and $5,000 on policies with an RCE at or over $1M in effect for the following states

Connecticut New and renewal business quoted on or after 5/2/2024.
Pennsylvania New business quoted on or after 6/3/2024 and renewal business on or after 2/10/2025.
Delaware New and renewal business quoted on or after 8/5/2024.
Oklahoma New business quoted on or after 10/31/2024 and renewal business on or after 1/21/2025.
Tennessee New business quoted on or after 11/12/2024 and renewal business quoted on or after 1/12/2025.
Indiana New business quoted on or after 11/14/2024 and renewal business quoted on or after 1/14/2025.
Illinois New business quoted on or after 12/10/2024 and renewal business on or after 2/10/2025.
