What is Buried Service Lines Coverage?

Buried Service Lines is an optional endorsement that can be selected on the Coverage tab for all policy types.

This endorsement covers the repair or replacement of buried utility lines on the residence premises along with the following:

  • Excavation costs
  • Expediting costs
  • Outdoor property damaged by the damaged service line
  • New generation costs to improve safety
  • Additional living expenses and fair rental value

It covers leaks, breaks, tears, ruptures, collapse, or electrical arching of a buried utility line. Openly provides a coverage limit of $10,000 that is subject to a $500 deductible.

Coverage does not apply to storm drains, septic systems, or heat pumps.

Some exclusions regarding this endorsement include:

  • Any part of any underground pipes or underground wires that is beneath or within a body of water, including swimming pools, ponds, lakes, or streams
  • Any part of any underground pipes or underground wires that is beneath or within the dwelling or other structures on the “residence premises”
  • Any underground pipes used to supply water to outdoor property, including swimming pools, hot tubs, fountains, or ponds
  • Any underground pipes or underground wires that are not connected and ready for use
