What is the Wind / Hail Deductible?

This deductible refers to the out-of-pocket expense that the customer will pay towards damages or a loss in the event of a covered loss caused by wind or hail. The deductible amount is subtracted from the claims settlement when a claim is covered and paid.

In Pennsylvania, for new business quoted after June 3, the following new minimum deductibles are in effect:

  • $2,500 on policies with an RCE less than $1M
  • $5,000 on policies with an RCE over $1M

In Georgia, agents can decline the separate wind / hail deductible by checking the box on the Coverage tab in the portal. When the box is checked, the standard peril deductible will be applied to covered losses.

The separate wind / hail deductible is required in the following GA counties:

  • Bryan
  • Camden
  • Chatham
  • Glynn
  • Liberty¬†
  • McIntosh
