This endorsement is designed for when a Policyholder engages in home-sharing or short-term rental activities of all, or part of, their home via platforms such as Airbnb, Vrbo, Homeaway, etc.

This endorsement is not designed for traditional bed and breakfasts (B&Bs); we do not accept multi-family homes, allowing for state-specific requirements. A multifamily home is any residential property comprising more than one housing unit within a single main building or insured location. For instance, we consider a property to be a multifamily residence if it has two or more unique living areas, regardless of whether they are attached to the main structure.

It is not offered on our HO-3 (Long-Term Rental) policy except in Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Utah. See the HO-3 article for details.

The options to select for this endorsement are as follows:

  • Yes, less than 10 days per year
  • Yes, 10-30 days per year
  • Yes, 31-90 days per year
  • Yes, 91-180 days per year
  • Yes, 180+ days per year

The number of days can vary by state and may not be available in all states.

This endorsement will:

  • Extend coverage for Bodily Injury or Property Damage arising from the Rental
  • Extend Coverage B (Other Structures) used for home-sharing
  • Extends Landlord Furnishing Coverage to home-sharing activities (limit of $2,500)
  • Allow for Coverage D (Loss of Use) in cases where home-sharing contracts are canceled due to official hurricane warnings issued by the National Weather Service

Without this endorsement, the standard Openly homeowner policy will restrict certain coverages when a policyholder is engaged in home-sharing activities.
