The Home-sharing Participation Endorsement can be found on the Coverage tab on HO-3 policies (Long-Term Rentals).
This endorsement is available in Alabama, Arizona, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Missouri, New Mexico, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and Utah.
This endorsement is not designed for traditional bed and breakfasts (B&Bs); we do not accept multi-family homes, except in Connecticut. A multifamily home is any residential property comprising more than one housing unit within a single main building or insured location. For instance, we consider a property to be a multifamily residence if it has two or more unique living areas, regardless of whether they are attached to the main structure.
The options to select for this endorsement are as follows:
- Yes
- No
This endorsement will:
- Extend coverage for Bodily Injury or Property Damage arising from the rental
- Extend Coverage B (Other Structures) used for home-sharing
- Extends Landlord Furnishing Coverage to home-sharing activities (limit of $2,500)
- Allow for Coverage D (Loss of Use) in cases where home-sharing contracts are canceled due to official hurricane warnings issued by the National Weather Service
Without this endorsement, the standard Openly homeowner policy will restrict certain coverages when a policyholder is engaged in home-sharing activities.
This endorsement is only effective for new business quotes and renewal offers generated after the endorsement goes live in the state.
