How Do I Update the Roof Age or Material?

To update the roof year or material for a policy, the change must be submitted to and processed by our Customer Experience Team

Verification requirements

Before the Customer Experience Team can process the change, verification is required that at least 51% of the roof has been replaced. The Underwriting Team will review any documentation you provide to determine its acceptability.

Supporting verification includes the following:

  • Detailed description of the work performed
  • Confirmation that all work has been completed to the agreed standards
  • Date of completion
  • Contact information of the roofing company
  • Photos of the roof that reflect the type of material and current condition of the roof

Acceptable proof of verification

The following documents are acceptable proof of verification:

  • Final invoice or certificate of completion — Must show details of work, the completion date, and the contractor’s information.
  • Seller’s disclosure — Must state the roof age or replacement year, and include a recent exterior photo of the roof.
  • Handwritten or printed invoice — Acceptable only if it provides the contractor's license number, is on company letterhead and/or lists the contractor’s name and contact information.
  • Building permit — Must note re-roof work, cost, and confirmation that the inspection passed; a current photo of the roof must also be included.
  • Initial proposal showing "paid in full" — This confirms job completion; a photo of the new roof material must also be included.
