An Additional Insured is a party with an insurable interest in the home (listed on the deed) who does not reside in the property.
Note for Landlords: The controlling owner(s) of a landlord policy should typically be listed as Human Named Insureds, not Additional Insureds. Because landlords derive rental income from the property, they require Loss of Use (Coverage D), which Additional Insured status does not provide.
Coverage
Those listed as an Additional Insured are eligible for the following coverages subject to policy terms, conditions, and limitations:
- Coverage A (Main Dwelling)
- Coverage B (Other Structures)
- Coverage E (Liability)
Coverages Excluded: Does not provide coverage for personal belongings (Coverage C), Loss of Use (Coverage D), or liability unrelated to the immediate premises. These individuals should carry separate insurance (such as a policy on their primary residence) for those exposures.
